Item Adaptation and grwth of 10 days old larvae and 21 days old juveniles of patin bunga (Pangasius sutchi) in different salinity.(Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, 2007) Nurul Johanna JemainA study on adaptation and growth of 10 days old larvae and 21 days old juvenile of Patin bunga, Pangasius sutchi in different salinity was conducted. For adaptation by direct exposure experiment, 10 days old larvae and 21 days old juveniles were used, while adaptation and growth studies by gradual acclimatization process, IO days old larvae were used. Salinity used ranging from O ppt, 5 ppt, IO ppt, 15 ppt, 20 ppt, 25 ppt, 30 ppt and 3 5 ppt. The result showed that the maximum salinity tolerance by direct exposure for 10 days old larvae was l 3ppt while for 21 days old juvenile was 16 ppt. By gradual acclimatization process, the larvae were able to adapt until 12 ppt. There was no significant difference in the interaction effect between size factor and salinity tolerance. There was also no significance difference in the interaction effect between growth factor and salinity concentration (p>0.05).Item Adult artemia as life feed for african catfish (Clarias gariepinus) fingerlings(Terengganu: Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, 2009) Mohd Fakrul Radzi BemawiThe study of soft-shell crab production culture technology was carried out in the marine hatchery University Malaysia Terengganu. The study was to determine the best temperature, photo period and salinity factors used to produced the soft-shell crab using mud crab (S. olivacea). The culturing was carried out in the culture tank with different set of salinity, photo period and temperature combinations. The size of the crabs, days of moulting and survival rate had been recorded. The statistical analysis that had been used in the study was using descriptive, One-Way ANOV A and the correlation in the Statistical Package of Social Science (SPSS) program. The experiment had show a succession in the production of soft-shell crabs using the mud crab. The result showed that there was no significant different between the six culturing tank due to the P-value higher than the significant level 0.05. Result also showing no significant different between the different set of salinity and photo period. Comparison had done to show the interaction with the survival of crabs. The Tank no.3, 4 and 5 culturing condition can be used as the reference for future study. The removing the pincer and walking legs also contribute to the succession of the soft-shell crabs production.Item Adult artemia as life feed for african catfish (Clarias gariepinus) fingerlings(Terengganu: Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, 2009) Mohamed Alif Noor AzmeThis study was conducted to determine the effectiveness using adult Artemia as live feed for African catfish (Clarias gariepinus) fingerling based on the growth and survival rate of fish. This experiment was conducted for 5 weeks and there are three diets for each group of fish that are (1) live adult Artemia; (2) live adult Artemia and pallet; (3) a commercial starter pellet. There have 3 replicate for each group and each replicate have 18 fish. Every week 10 fish was weighing by randomly for each replicate. Fish was feed 10% of their body weight and every weeks feed gives to fish was adjusted. In the end experiment Artemia and pellet that used in this experiment was make protein analysis approximation to know their protein content. From the proximate analysis show that adult Artemia have 14% of protein composition while pellet have 34% of protein composition. From this experiment adult Artemia as diet show lowest growth rate compare to combination adult Artemia and pellet as diets and using pallet as diets. This result was due to low protein content in adult Artemia compare to pallet. For FCR value, Artemia show highest FCR value for first weeks of experiment. This was due to failure of fish to recognized adult Artemia as their feeds because of transparent colour of adult Artemia and their movement is too fast. That also explains why there a high mortality in adult Artemia treatment. Adult Artemia as diet shows the highest mortality rate that is 22.2%, while combination both adult Artemia and pellet as diet shows 14.81 % of mortality rate and pellet as diet shows the lowest mortality rate that is, 5.56%. For the next weeks of experiment there are decreases of FCR value for adult Artemia. It means fish start to recognize adult Artemia as their feeds. The study had show that adult Artemia not improve the grow rate of African catfish furthermore pellet as diet had a better growth rate and survival rate than using adult Artemia. This is because the different level of nutritive value especially protein content.Item Aethiology studies of Fusarium spp. associated with necrotic spot disease of dragon fruit (Hylocereus ployrhizus) and the postharvest treatment studies on sanitation and storage(Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, 2009) Nur Azlin AzhariThis study was conducted to identify the causal organism of necrotic spot disease on Hylocereus polyrhizus and determine the effect of sanitation treatment and storage temperature on fruit physiological and microbial changes. The fruit with necrotic spot had been collected from Johor, Malacca and Terengganu. Thirty-two of Fusarium species were isolated from the symptom with 40.63% of F. solani, 28.13% of F. proliferatum, 21.88% of F. semitectum and 9.38% of F. oxysporum. Only F. solani and F. proliferatum were confirmed pathogenic after inoculation with disease severity index (DSI) varied from 0.11 to 4.67 for F. solani and 0.11 to 3.69 for F. pro/iferatum. Thus, F. solani are more pathogenic compare to F. proliferatum. The sanitation treatment and storage temperature were involved in physiological and microbial changes of the fruit. For sanitation treatment, sodium hypochlorite treatment and distilled water treatment showed no significance differences (p>0.05) for chemical and physical aspects compare to unwashed fruits. While for the microbial infection, sodium hypochlorite 200ppm can reduce the microbial growth and act as a good sanitizing agent compare to distilled water and unwashed. The storage temperature also can prolong the shelf-life of dragonfruit. Fruit stored at room temperature can maintain the freshness for 6 days but result showed that it can be extended until 14 days for 14 °C and 21 days for 6 ° C.Item Aktiviti antioksida dalam pelbagai jenis ubi tempatan(Terengganu: Kolej Universiti Sains dan Teknologi Malaysia, 2006) Ruzinoor AtanKajian ini dijalankan untuk mengk:aji kandungan antioksidan dalam pelbagai jenis ubi tempatan iaitu Manihot esculenta (Ubi Kayu),Item Aktiviti antioksidan dan kandungan bahan fenolik dalam buah jering (Pithecellobium jiringo) pada tahap kematangan yang berbeza (muda, tua dan bercambah)(Terengganu: Kolej Universiti Sains dan Teknologi Malaysia, 2006) Siti Asliza AhmadKajian ini dijalankan untuk menentukan aktiviti antioksidan (AA) dan kandungan bahan fenolik (KBF) dalam buah jering pada tahap kematangan berbeza iaitu buah muda, tua dan bercambah.Item Amalan dan faktor pengambilan susu isian pekat manis melalui minuman di kalangan pelajar-pelajar sarjana muda di IPTA dan institut perguruan di Kuala Terengganu(Terengganu: Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, 2007) Muhammad Amin BujangKajian ini dijalankan bagi meninjau amalan dan faktor pengambilan susu isian pekat manis melalui minuman di kalangan pelajar-pelajar sarjana muda di IPTA dan institut perguruan di Kuala Terengganu. Susu isian pekat manis yang juga dikenali masyarakat sebagai susu pekat manis mempunyai kandungan gula yang tinggi dan tergolong dalam kumpulan glycaemix index yang tinggi. Pelbagai masalah kesihatan akan timbul jika susu isian pekat manis diambil secara berlebihan dan tidak terkawal seperti obesiti dan diabetes. Setakat ini, amat kurang kajian yang dijalankan tentang pengambilan susu isian pekat manis di kalangan pelajar universiti. Kajian yang berbentuk diskriptif ini menggunakan instrumen kajian berbentuk borang soal selidik yang dijawab oleh 301 responden yang terpilih daripada kursus sarjana muda di Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (45%), Universiti Darul Iman (17.9%) dan Institut Perguruan Kuala Terengganu (36.9°/c,). Pemilihan responden adalah berdasarkan teknik stratified random sampling manakala pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik personally administered questionnaire. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa 47.2% responden mengambil susu isian pekat manis melalui minuman yang berjumlah sebanyak 1575mL dalam seminggu.Item Amalan pengambilan makanan di kalangan pelajar sekolah menengah di Kuala Terengganu(Terengganu: Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, 2008) Siti Nafsiah AliUnhealthy and unbalance food intake among adolescents may cause health problem and some side effects. This study was done to survey the practice of daily food intake among the secondary school students at Kuala Terengganu. For that purpose 352 form 4 students from eleven secondary schools that randomly chosen in Kuala Terengganu were selected as the study sample. The sampling technique was in the form of purposive and convenience sampling. The instrument used was the questionnaire form. The questionnaire was used to provide the information of student's background, food intake patterns, frequency of food intake, and types of food and drink. Besides that it also touches on also the factors that influence food intake among the respondents. Statistical analysis used were descriptive and inferencial statistics. The study result had shown that the percentage of respondents who consume food for each main meal period were, breakfast (44.0%), lunch (69.9%) and dinner (54.3%). In general food intake during lunch was more satisfactory compared to other meal periods. The food mates for lunch (54.3%) and dinner (71.9%) was their own family members while for breakfast (57.4%) was among their friends in school. Among the respondents just (14% to 40%) was take food alone. From the food intake frequency table, some foods such as 'nasi kerabu'(min score = 4.01), cereals (min score = 4.18), roti canai (min score = 4.30), biscuits (min score = 4.81 ), milk (min score = 4.20), cheese (min score = 4.43), soft drink (min score = 3.70) and water melon(min score =3.86) were recorded as the highest score min and the students most selected in breakfast. For lunch the highest score min were meals on meat (min score = 3.07), laksa (min score = 3.73), soft drink (min score = 3.70), guava (min score = 3.74) and sweet porridge (min score = 4.00). Dinner consumption was closely equal to lunch consumption. Some food that have been take by the respondents and get the highest score min in dinner were meal on meat (min score = 3.11), laksa (min score = 3.84), soft drink (min score = 3.71), honey dew (min score = 3.79) and sweet porridge (min score = 4.10). Food factors, individual factors and environmental factors play important role on influencing the food intake among students. As a conclusion, the practice of food intake among respondents is in satisfy level. Health practice of food intake is very important for health lifestyle.Item Amalan pengambilan sarapan di kalangan pelajar di beberapa sekolah rendah di utara Kuala Terengganu(Terengganu: Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, 2007) Siti Nor Khaironisha OthmanKajian ini dijalankan untuk meninjau amalan pengambilan sarapan di kalangan pelajar sekolah rendah di 3 buah sekolah di utara Kuala Terengganu. Banyak persoalan timbul tentang amalan pengambilan sarapan di kalangan masyarakat Malaysia termasuk golongan pelajar sekolah. Pembangunan pesat negara menyebabkan wujudnya lebih ramai golongan ibu bekerja yang terpaksa mengimbangi tuntutan terhadap keluarga dan kerjaya. Ditambah pula dengan kesukaran mendapatkan orang gaji, cabaran untuk kebanyakan keluarga menyediakan sarapan kepada anak-anak menjadi semakin sukar, walhal, sarapan terlalu penting untuk dipandang sambil lewa atau diabaikan kerana ia dipercayai mampu menggalakkan corak pemakanan sihat lantas mengurangkan gejala obesiti, malnutrisi dan lain-lain. Namun jikapun sarapan menjadi rutin harian, wujud juga pelbagai isu berkaitan dengan jenis dan kuantiti pengambilan sesuatu makanan. Seramai 155 orang pelajar tahun 6 telah terpilih sebagai sampel kajian. Kajian ini berbentuk deskriptif dan teknik persampelan purposive telah digunakan. Instrumen kajian adalah borang soal selidik yang berbentuk interviewer-administered yang digunakan unutk mendapatkan maklumat tentang latar belakang, corak pengambilan sarapan, kekerapan pengambilan dan jenis makanan dan minuman yang kerap diambil sebagai sarapan serta faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi amalan pengambilan sarapan. Analisis statistik yang dijalankan adalah analisis deskriptif dan inferensi. Hasil daripada analisis yang dijalankan, sebanyak 98% responden telah bersarapan semasa hari persekolahan.Item Amir Taufiq Sabuddin(Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, 2007) LP 5 FASM 1 2008Experiments was conducted at Post Harvest laboratory, University Malaysia Terengganu (UMT). The experiments was done started from 6 January 2008 to 21 January 2008 and was repeated 3 times. Eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) is a perishable and chilling sensitive tropical fruit. The chilling injury (CI) symptoms as well as some physical and physiological implications were studied in eggplants stored at 2 ° C, l O ° C and ambient temperature (as a control) for 15 days. Eggplants stored at IO ° C were not damaged by temperature, whereas fruit stored at 2 ° C suffered chilling injury (Cl). Eggplant stored at ° 2 C exhibited a decrease in Lo (lightness), level of browning pulp tissues and fiL (oxidation potential), increase of pH after CI symptoms are manifested. At this temperature, flesh tissue revealed damage. On the other hand, skin from upper fruit section showed more lightness and reddish coloration, than the central fruit section at harvest and over the entire storage period at 2 °C.Item Analisis corak perbelanjaan pengguna di kawasan bandar /(Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, 2009) Muhammad Izwan EffendiKajian ini adalah untuk membuat analisis corak perbelanjaan pengguna di kawasan bandar. Perbelanjaan merupakan kesanggupan dan keinginan pengguna memperuntukkan pendapatan mereka terhadap barangan dan perkhidmatan mengikut keperluan dan kehendak mereka untuk memaksimumkan utiliti dan kepuasannya. Perbelanjaan isi rumah juga merupakan salah satu komponen dalam menentukan keseimbangan pendapatan negara. Corak perbelanjaan adalah berbeza bagi setiap individu di mana kemampuan, gaya hidup dan budaya setiap individu adalah berbeza. Hasil kajian menunjukkan pengguna di kawasan bandar paling banyak berbelanja ke atas kategori barang makanan bagi perbelanjaan bulanan dan pendidikan bagi perbelanjaan tahunan. Makanan merupakan barang mesti dalam ekonomi dan pendidikan pula adalah penting dalam menentukan taraf hidup pada masa hadapan. Model yang dibina akan menerangkan hubungan antara pembolehubah bersandar dan tidak bersandar dalam fungsi matematik. Kajian ini juga mendapati pembolehubah tingkat pendapatan bulanan sangat mempengaruhi jumlah perbelanjaan pengguna di kawasan bandar. Secara keseluruhan, nilai R.2 dalam analisis ini adalah 0.597 yang menunjukkan pembolehubah-pembolehubah bebas dapat mempengaruhi pembolehubah bersandar iaitu jumlah perbelanjaan secara keseluruhan. Kajian ini juga mencadangkan beberapa strategi untuk digunakan oleh penggubal dasar bagi merangka pelbagai dasar serta program bagi mencapai matlamat untuk meningkatkan taraf hidup chm ekonomi negara.Item Analisis gelagat perbelanjaan isi rumah akibat daripada perubahan struktur ekonomi di Malaysia(Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, 2009) Mohd Faizal AwabPerbelanjaan isi rumah memainkan peranan penting dalam menggerakkan ekonomi di dalam negara. Perbelanjaan ke atas barang-barang dan perkhidmatan akan meningkatkan lagi keluaran dalam negara seterusnya meningkatkan pertumbuhan ekonomi. Menurut Stephen (2001), isi rumah bertindakbalas dengan situasi ekonomi semasa dengan mengubah kategori khusus dalam perbelanjaannya dimana perubahan struktur perbelanjaan mempunyai hubungan yang signifikan dengan perubahan struktur ekonomi semasa. Walton dan Manuelyen (1998) mengatakan bahawa proses memahami situasi ek:onoiiii bagi isi rumah dapat dilihat melaltii tingk:at petbelanjaan bagi isi rumah dalam sesebuah negara dimana terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara tingkat perbelanjaan dan petumbuhan ekonomi semasa. Oleh yang demikian, kajian ini dljalankan bagi melthat sejauhmana perubahan struktur pertumbuhan ekonomi mampu mempengaruhi perbelanjaan ke atas penggunaan semasa isi rumah di Malaysia. Pengukuran dibuat melalui pengumpulan data sekunder daripada jumlah penggunaan di Malaysia mengikut tahun dan pengumpulan data primer bagi melihat corak perbelanjaan semasa isi rumah di Malaysia. Analisis data sekunder adalah dengan menggunakan perisian eviews 5 manakala data primer hanya di analisis melalui kaedah analisis diskriptif. Dapatan kajian telah menunjukan bahawa perbelanjaan isi rumah sememangnya dipengaruhi oleh perubahan struktur ekonomi lebih-lebih lagi yang melibatkan perubahan pembolehubah makroekonomi seperti keluaran dalam negara, pendapatan per kapita dan juga kadar inflasi dalam sesebuah negara.Item Analisis pengangguran dan impak kepada ekonomi Malaysia(Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, 2009) Mohd Azlie RusmanPengangguran merupakan salah satu daripada masalah ekonomi yang sememangnya menjadi beban kepada masyarakat dan sedikit sebanyak memberi kesan kepada ekonomi negara. Oleh itu, perhatian yang serius perlu di ambil oleh pelbagai pihak terutama kerajaan bagi membendung masalah ini daripada terus membelenggu masyarakat. Pengangguran akan sentiasa bertambah, seiring pertambahan penduduk sesebuah negara selain disebabkan pelbagai faktor lain. Meskipun mereka yang menganggur terdiri dari pelbagai peringkat umur tetapi sering dikaitkan dengan para belia kerana ramainya lepasan sekolah yang tidak mempunyai pekerjaan. Justeru itu, kajian ini dibuat adalah untuk menganalisis isu pengangguran seterusnya melihat apakah kesan pengangguran ini kepada ekonomi Malaysia secara amnya dan Ketuaran Datam Negarab Kasar (KDNK) secara khasnya. Model yang dibina akan menerangkan hubungan antara pembolehubah bersandar dengan pembolehubah-pembolehubah bebas dalam fungsi matematik. Kaedah ekonomitrik yang dipilih adalah Regrasi Linier Berbilang dan di proses dengan bantuan perisian "Statistical Package For Social Science" (SPSS) bertujuan untuk menentukan kesignifikanan sesuatu pembolehubah yang dikaji.Item Anti-inflammatory effect of stevioside in relation to cardiovascular risk in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (huvecs)(Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, 2012) Leong Hui MinInflammation has been implicated in initiation and progression of cardiovascular disease risk. Expression of cell surface adhesion molecule plays an important role in adherence of monocytes or leukocytes which lead to pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. Stevia rebaudiana is a traditional medicinal plant in South America which also as regained popularity as natural sweetener. Stevioside is type of diterpenoid glycoside, a bioactive compound which has been reported to exhibit pharmacological effects in vivo, in-vitro and human studies, in which include anti-inflammatory effect. In the present study, pre-incubation (prevention) and incubation (treatment) of stevioside on Lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial cells (HUVECs) were explored its anti-inflammatory effect on the expression of inflammatory marker Vascular Adhesion Molecule-I (VCAM-1) and Intercellular Adhesion Molecule-l(ICAM-1) further investigated. Cell Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to assess the VCAM-1 and ICAM-1 expression. MIT cytotoxicity assay was implemented in order to determine the cytotoxicity effect of stevioside in normal primary cells, HUVECs. The present study demonstrated that the optimum LPS condition for expression ofVCAM-1 and ICAM1 were 1.25 µg/mL and 2.5 µg/mL, respectively at 3 hours incubation timeItem Antibiotic and heavy metal resistance of bacteria isolated from mud crab (Scylla spp.) cultured in Setiu Wetland, Terengganu(Terengganu: Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, 2009) Mariam MaripSeventy six of bacteria strains were successfully isolated from mud crabs (Scylla spp.) from Setiu Wetland, Terengganu. Their sensitivity of the bacteria isolates towards the selected antibiotics and testing the bacteria resistant against heavy metals has been done and determined. Twenty one types of selected antibiotics discs at different concentrations were used to determine the susceptibility bacterial isolates. Among the isolated bacteria, Aeromonas hydrophila, Hafaia alvei, Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Vibrio alginolyticus, Chromobacterium violaceum, Vibrio cholerae, Vibrio metschnikovii, Plesiomonas shigelloides, Burkholderia pseudomallei, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Morganella morganii, Acinetobacter baumannii, Yersinia enterocolitica, Proteus vulgaris, Shewanella putrefaciens and Enterobacter sakazakii were isolated. Highly found were Aeromonas hydrophila (25 strains), Hafaia alvei (14 strains), Vibrio parahaemolyticus ( 14 strains) followed by other bacteria such as species. All successfully bacteria isolated also has been tested for their ability to tolerate heavy metal cadmium (II) chloride (CdCl2), potassium (II) chromate (K2Cr207) and cuprum sulfate (CuS04). A heavy metals resistance pattern Cd > Cu> K was observed in bacteria isolated in the study. ln the antibiotic test, bacteria showed highly susceptibility to ampicilin, amoxycillin, colistin sulphate, oleandomycin and lincomycin. Few of bacteria isolated showed highly resistance to doxycycline, erythromycin, novobiocin, spiramycin, oxytetracycline, tetracycline, furazolidone, fosfomycin, nitrofuranton, florfenicol, flumequire and chloramphenicol and I 00% bacteria isolated showed resistance to oxolinic acid, kanamycin, dan nalidixin acid.Item Anticancer and antioxidant activity of sweet corn (Zea Mays) extracts againts human breast cancer (MCF-7) cell line(Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, 2012) Lee Mei CheeBreast cancer is one of the mortality diseases which can affect anyone in the world. It is also a leading cause of cancer deaths among women in Malaysia. Chemotherapy drug for breast cancer treatment result in several physiological and psychological distress to patient. Thus, research concentrated an alternative and provide better anti breast cancer treatment with fewer side effects is crucial. Sweet corn (Zea mays) is believed to provide variety of medical value in cancer researches. In the present study, the sweet com extracts of fresh com kernel (FC), cooked com kernel (CC), com silk (CS) and corn husk (CH) were used to determine the cytotoxic and antioxidant activities. In cytotoxicity study, different concentrations of com extracts were tested against MCF-7 cell line in 96 well plates for 72 hours at 37 C. The IC50 value obtained were 9.37 µg/mL (FC), 47 µg/mL (CC), 75 µg/mL (CS) and 96 µg/mL (CH). Moreover, for antioxidant assay, 50% inhibition of DPPH concentration was determined. The EC50 value given by FC, CC, CS and CH were 13.20 µg/mL, 6.25 µg/mL, 45 µg/mL, and 6.72 µg/mL, respectively. All the samples showed the higher EC5o value as compared to standard pure compound, quercetin where the EC50 ° obtained was 1.67 µg/mL.Item Antifungal activity of essential oils against post-harvest fungal pathogens of tropical fruits(Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, 2007) Tan Yeong YeongFive essential oils of Citrus aurantifolia Swingle, Citrus limon (L.) Burm. f., Cymbopogon citratus (DC.) Stapf, Cestrum nocturnum L., and Michelia champaca Linn. were evaluated to determine the suitable essential oil and its concentration on inhibition of post-harvest fungal pathogens of tropical fruits, i.e. fungi Fusarium oxysporum (Fo), Fusarium oxysporum (Fo2) and Glomerella cingulata (Ge) which isolated from snake fruit, papaya and wax apple respectively under laboratory conditions. The highest and broadest activity was shown by C. citratus oil which can cause fungicidal activity to all fungi tested. The oil was extremely fungitoxic against F. oxysporum (Fo), F. oxysporum (Fo2) and G. cingulata (Ge) at fungicidal MIC (Minimum [nhibitory Concentration) of I .2, 0.8 and 1.0 µI mr 1 , respectively. Moderate active essential oils were achieved by M. champaca and C. nocturnum at fungistatic and fungicidal concentration of 0.8 - 6.4 µI mr'. [n contrast, both citrus oils were found to be the least effective with M[C of 6.4 µI mr' - 38.4 µI mr'.Item Antifungal activity of kaduk against post-harvest fungal pathogen (Fusarium solani) of honeydew (Cucumis melo)(Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, 2009) Mohd Zulyanaidi Mohd FauziThis study was conducted at Terengganu area. The symptom of the fruit rot disease on honeydew was a soft circulation lesion on the swface of honeydew. Colour changes from mild yellow to brownish on the honeydew skins. Potato dextrose agar (PDA) and carnation leaves agar (CLA) were used for the identification of Fusarium species to observe the morphology and shape of macroconidia and microconidia. The in vitro were done for the antifungal study which dipped into the 10% of Kaduk extraction solution. The antifungal activities of solvent extracts of Piper sarmentosum were determined against Fusarium salani f. cucurbitae. The lemongrass extract at the concentration of 10% has found to be very effective in restricting the C. gloeosporioides grown in medium, whereas the lemongrass extract concentration at 30% is effective in inhibiting anthracnose disease on papaya and both the exsperiments shows a significant results. It showed that, for the 30% concentration of lemongrass extraction sprayed on the surface of papaya does not show any changes in the aspects of color index and weight loss throughout the storage period. The present study suggests that, the use of lemongrass extraction is an alternative to the use of synthetic fungicides to control anthracnose on papaya.
