Item Algoritima berkebarangkalian dalam pengoptimunan global fungsi berpembolehubah tunggal(Fakulti Sains dan Teknologi, 2005-11) Siska Candra NingsihPengoptimuman adalah suatu usaha untuk menyelesaikan suatu masalah dengan jalan terbaik, dengan tujuan utama adalah untuk meminimumkan masalah yang ada dan memaksimumkan manfaat yang diperoleh. Ada banyak kaedah untuk menyelesaikan masalah pengoptimuman tetapi tidak ada yang dapat menyelesaikan semua masalah pengoptimuman dengan cekapnya, sebagai contoh kaedah Newton adalah satu kaedah berketentuan yang dapat menyelesaikan masalah pengoptimuman, tetapi kaedah ini hanya dapat digunakan untuk kes-kes tertentu sahaja dan biaya pengiraan meningkat sangat cepat sesuai saiz masalah.Item Algoritma alternatif kaedah quasi-newton bagi masalah pengoptimuman tak berkekangan(Fakulti Sains dan Teknologi, 2010-05) Mohd Asrul Hery IbrahimKaedah quasi-Newton digunakan dengan meluas untuk menyelesaikan masalah pengoptimuman tak berkekangan. Kaedah yang paling popular dalam kaedah quasi-Newton adalah kaedah BFGS dan juga keluarga Broyden. Merr. cultivated on bris soil was conducted in pot at Plant Shade House, Department of Biological Science, KUSTEM and also in the field at Kg. Telaga Papan, Setiu, Terengganu using Rhudua series soil. These experiments were arranged in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with six treatments and four replications.Item Analisis kecekapan relatif industri insurans hayat dan am di Malaysia menggunakan analisis sempadan stokastik (ASS)(Terengganu: Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, 2013-07) Mohamad Arif Awang NawiKebanyakan masyarakat di Malaysia tidak jelas dengan definisi insurans serta kepentingannya. Insurans ditakrifkan sebagai satu cara pemindahan risiko daripada pemegang polisi kepada syarikat insurans jika berlaku kerugian atau musibah. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur kecekapan relatif bagi industri Insurans Hayat dan Insurans Am di Malaysia dengan menggunakan Analisis Sempadan Stokastik (ASS) berpandukan model Battese dan Coelli. Sebanyak 39 buah syarikat insurans telah dikumpulkan dan ianya terdiri daripada 26 buah syarikat Insurans Am dan 13 buah syarikat Insurans Hayat. Kesemua data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan perisian FRONTIER melalui kaedah kebolehjadian maksimum (MLE) untuk menunjukkan kecekapan relatif sesuatu syarikat insurans. Keputusan yang diperolehi menunjukkan Syarikat Mayban Life berada pada pangkat 1 (skor kecekapan tertinggi) bagi syarikat Insurans Hayat. Manakala bagi Insurans Am, skor yang tertinggi adalah Syarikat OCA (pangkat 1). Prestasi kecekapan industri Insurans Hayat dan Am meningkat setiap tahun dengan peningkatan dari sebanyak 0.01 (1%) hingga 0.17 (17%). Keputusan penganggaran bagi Syarikat Insurans Hayat menunjukkan bahawa keanjalan jumlah keuntungan bagi perbelanjaan pengurusan adalah paling tinggi iaitu 0.5298 berbanding Syarikat Insurans Am. Secara keseluruhannya, keputusan menunjukkan peningkatan prestasi yang baik dengan sekurang-kurangnya pertambahan sebanyak 1% hingga 17% bagi Insurans Hayat dan Insurans Am setiap tahun.Item Analisis komponen prinsipal dan regresi data panel dalam menentukan faktor permintaan rumah di Malaysia(Terengganu: Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, 2012-09) Aslina NasirPermintaan perumahan perlu sentiasa dititik berat kerana ia mempengaruhi sosial, ekonomi dan politik sesebuah negara. Justeru itu, objektif kajian ini bertujuan menentukan komponen-komponen utama faktor permintaan rumah dan menentusahkan pengaruh harga dan Keluaran Dalam Negara Kasar (KDNK) terhadap permintaan rumah.Item Analisis molekul virus nipah(Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, 2008) Shahreza Md SheriffA study was done to characterize the NiV L gene, and to develop and analyse the transcription process of NiV. In this study, NiV L protein was cloned and the entire gene was sequenced. The L gene, which consists of 6,735 nucleotides, encoded a protein of 2,244 amino acids with a calculated molecular weight of 257,202 Da. Expression of the L gene in yeast, Pichia pastoris showed the predicted molecular weight of 257 kDa protein.Item Analisis semantik untuk model berorientasikan objek menggunakan algoritma carian dalam dahulu dan cantasan porter(Terengganu: Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, 2012) Noor Syakirah IbrahimPemodelan konseptual penting untuk meramal kos dan masa yang diperlukan untuk menghasilkan sesuatu sistem (Teeuw & Berg, 1997). Walau bagaimanapun, tiada piawaian yang sesuai untuk menilai kualiti bagi model konseptual. Meningkatkan kualiti bagi model konseptual ialah sama pentingnya dengan meningkatkan kualiti bagi sistem yang dihasilkan. The Malaysian government is beginning to focus more attention on its social welfare and human service needs in order to alleviate these psychosocial problems.Item Assessment of water quality in Setiu River Basin, Terengganu(Terengganu: Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, 2012-09) Izyan Munirah Mohd ZaideenAn assessment of the river water quality according to the water quality standards in Setiu River Basin and the identification of significant temporal spatial trends were done in the study. 14 parameters were considered to compute Water Quality Index (WQI) based on Department of Environment Malaysia and classification was being made in accordance to Interim National Water Quality Standards (INWQS). The selected parameters were water temperature, pH, electrical conductivity, salinity, dissolved oxygen, total suspended solids, biochemical oxygen demand, chemical oxygen demand, ammoniacal nitrogen, nitrate, nitrite, urea, phosphates and chlorophyll-a.Item Automatic classification and recognition of coral reefs from underwater video images(Fakulti Sains dan Teknologi, 2006-10) Leng, Wong SiewThis thesis presents a new approach to automate the classification and estimation of coral reef based on computer vision techniques by performing classification and recognition on digitized video obtained from surrounding reef ecosystem. By knowing the state of the coral reefs, marine scientist can predict fish yield or determine how the reef system is coping with the environment in a less tedious and less time consuming way. In this project, the objective is to classify and recognize a predetermined reef benthos groups. These groups are alive coral, dead coral, sand and rubble. As for the alive coral group, possible higher level of taxonomic classification is performed to discriminate the classes of branching, digitate and tabulate solely based on digital video recording.Item Bioaccumulation and depuration of pyrene in oyster, crassostrea iredalei(Fakulti Sains dan Teknologi, 2005-12) Yew, Chin KamOyster, Crassostrea iredalei is able to accumulate pyrene in seawater rapidly and achieve steady state within 24 hours under static condition of seawater containing salinity between 10 ppt and 30 ppt, at 30 °C temperature and pH 8.1. Salinity seems to have a great effect on the accumulation and depuration of pyrene in Crassostrea iredalei. The results reveal that lower salinity will lead to higher bioaccumulation of pyrene in the oyster. Bioaccumulation factors for pyrene in oyster at 10 ppt, 20 ppt and 30 ppt salinity of seawater are 232464 ± 110021, 126137 ± 30255 and 54839 ± 9931 respectively. The uptake rate constants are 1593.486 ± 824.644, 462.707 ± 108.643 and 164.516 ± 38.826 h"1 respectively. The depuration rate constants are 0.007 ± 0.001, 0.004 ± 0.001 and 0.003 ± 0.00 h"1 respectively. Higher salinity level leads to lower bioaccumulation factor as well as uptake and depuration rate constants. Besides, Crassostrea iredalei is also capable to accumulate the PAHs present in Malaysia Tapis A crude oil.Item Bioaccumulation of anthracene in Penaeus monodon (Fabricius) through contaminated feed(Fakulti Sains dan Teknologi, 2005-03) Thing, Ong PeiPenaeus monodon is able to accumulate anthracene through food ingestion. Penaeus monodon achieved steady state of anthracene accumulation within 5 to 15 days. Faster steady state of anthracene accumulation can be established when the shrimps were fed with higher anthracene content. Bioaccumulation factor (BAF) for anthracene in Penaeus monodon is 7.71 x 10"4 ± 5.00 x 10"4 which means Penaeus monodon only accumulated 0.1% of total anthracene content introduced. Uptake rate constant, k| and depuration rate constant, k2 in this study are 4.27 x 10^± 2.55 x 10"4 day"1 and 6.14 x 10"' ± 1.16 x 10 'day"1 respectively. Penaeus monodon started to have ruptured tissues on the shrimp after feeding with 100 mg/kg anthracene contaminated feed for 5 days. Penaeus monodon was able to eliminate anthracene within 10 days in a clean environment. This is most probably due to active cytochrome P450 mixed function oxygenase (MFO) system that speeds up excretion of accumulated anthracene in Penaeus monodon.Item Biology of metisa plana walker (lepidoptera: psychidae) and efficacy and environmental impact of chlorantraniliprole for its control in oil palm(Fakulti Sains dan Teknologi, 2011-05) Chua, Chin KokThe present study is an investigation of chlorantraniliprole as a chemical control agent for the bagworm Metisa plana in oil palm. Metisa plana is one of the most serious defoliator pests of oil palm and can result in significant yield loss.Item Capaian secara semantik dokumen web berasaskan domain ontologi(Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, 2005-07) Arifah Che AlhadiAccessing and extracting semantic information from Web documents is crucial for the realization of the semantic web and the provision of advance knowledge services. Manual extraction of semantic information is impractical and unscalable and fully automated tools are still at the very early stage to be implemented. Therefore, the use of specialized domain knowledge in the form of ontology is seen as one of the practical short terms solutions approach which be used to search and extract semantic information content from unstructured text on the web. Ontologies have been defined as "explicit representation(s) of domain", in which concepts and relationships between them are defined as a representational terms, enabling knowledge to be shared and reuse. While ontologies have been widely used to support communication and information sharing within the context of Semantic Web documents is still not thoroughly explored. The main aim of this research is therefore to propose an approach of which the unstructured nature of web documents can be semantically queried by using domain ontology.Item Carbon dioxide adsorption using synergistic calcination-activation of oil palm shell(Terengganu: Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, 2013-02) Mahmood SulaimanGlobal warming is a major world concern and it is predicted that average global temperature will rise up to 4.5 oc by 2030. The effects of global warming for Malaysia would include decline of agricultural output, loss of mangrove basin and reduced efficiency of fossil fuel based power plant. Human activities which release more greenhouse gases are identified as the major contributor to the global warming effects. 74% of total greenhouse gases are Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and 55% of it is coming from fossil fuel burning and cement processing. In Malaysia, the CO2 emissions have increased 118% from 1990 to 1998, against only 8% in global change.Meanwhile, the oil palm industry creates about 4 million tonnes of oil palm shell (OPS) waste in 2007.Item Characterization and sources of hydrocarbons in lagoon sediments of Setiu Wetland(Fakulti Sains dan Teknologi, 2006-09) Hasra Masrifah Wan Jusoh @ Ab. RahimIn this study, hydrocarbon contents (aliphatic and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHS), sterols, long chain fatty acids, alkanones and alkanals),in surface and core sediments of five stations within Setiu Lagoon, Terengganu were determined using Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS).Surface and core sediments were collected using a grab sampler and section Dcorer,respectively, during February and April 2004. Freeze-dried sediment (<500|jm fraction) were soxhlet extracted using dichloromethane for eight hours. Separation of hydrocarbons into aliphatic, PAHs and polar fractions were carried out using partially deactivated silica-alumina column chromatography technique. Identifications and quantifications of these compounds were done using GC-MS.
