The aims of this study were: (i) To study the accumulation of metals in Halodule pinfolia and Halophila minor) towards selected metals (copper, zinc, lead and cadmium) in the Setiu lagoon., (ii) to determine the accumulation of heavy metals in the leaves and rhizomes - root system of the two seagrass species, (iii) To determine the accumulation of heavy metals in the sediments and seagrass tissues from artificially contaminated sediments.Item Accumulation Of Metallic Elements In Commercial Fish Species Of Setiu Coastal Waters, Terengganu As Pollution Bioindicator(Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, 2018) Muhammad Izzat Bin KamaruzamanThe pollution from Metallic Elements (MEs) becoming one of the major concern in assessing potential human risk on food consumption. Wild commercial fish exposed to the natural environment are the main source of exposure to human. Thus, this study was conducted to determine the concentration of MEs in selected commercial fish of Setiu coastal water and to study the correlation of the metals with the fish sizes. Ten types of MEs including chromium (Cr), manganese (Mn), copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), iron (Fe), nickel (Ni), cadmium (Cd), arsenic (As), lead (Pb) and mercury (Hg) were detected in both the liver and muscle of five commercial species collected namely Auxis sp., Megalaspis cordyla, Rastrelliger sp, Selaroides sp. and Nemipterus sp. Fishes were dissected for muscle and liver and digested using Teflon Bomb digestion method. The concentration of MEs in the organ were detected using the Inductive Coupled Plasma – Mass Spectrophometer. The data obtained show selected MEs were higher in the liver than the muscle except for Cr for all fish species collected. Overall concentration of all fish species shows that the concentration of Fe>Zn>As>Cu>Cd>Mn>Cr>Hg>Ni>Pb in the liver and the concentration of Fe>As>Zn>Cr>Cu>Mn>Ni>Hg>Pb>Cd in the muscle. The size of fish and the trophic level does not influence the MEs concentration in the fish. The concentration of MEs in the liver can safely say that does not affect the concentration of MEs in the muscle means that the fish diet is not the main source of metal content for muscle.Item Adoption Of Computerized Accounting Information System (Cais) Among Malaysian SMEs(Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, 2014) Wan Nur Syahida Binti Wan IsmailSMEs represent a vital segment of the Malaysian economy. Lithium ion battery technology offers the highest energy densities by weight of all the commercial rechargeable battery technologies, with high voltage, long cycle life, and a wide environmental operation range.Item ADVANCES IN LANDSAT REMOTE SENSING FOR SPATIAL DISTRIBUTION OF SALTMARSH LAND-COVER AND INUNDATION DYNAMICS IN SOUTH EASTERN BANGLADESH(UNIVERSITI MALAYSIA TERENGGANU, 2024-06) SHEIKH MOHAMMED RABIUL ALAMItem Age And Growth Estimation Using Growth Band Counts Of Orange Mud Crab, Scylla Olivacea (Herbst, 1796) From Setiu Wetlands, Peninsular Malaysia(Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, 2018-05) Nurul Hasyima Binti IsmailOrange mud crab, Scylla olivacea (Herbst, 1796) is an important fishery products in Malaysia. Age study is important to generate the information on growth, recruitment, longevity, mortality for mud crab stock assessment. The aim of this study is to investigate the Growth Band Counts (GBC) deposited in thin sections of gastric mill of S. olivacea as age indicator for this species. A total of 90 wild caught S. olivacea were sampled from Setiu Wetlands, Peninsular Malaysia (February – October 2016) and 25 individuals of S. olivacea were reared in the hatchery of Institute of Tropical Aquaculture, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu for one year (March 2016 - March 2017). The periodicity of GBC in gastric mill of S. olivacea was validated using reared of known age samples. The results revealed that the presence of one GBC in reared S. olivacea were parallel to the age one year old of S. olivacea absolute age. One to three GBC were present in wild caught S. olivacea which indicated the age of one to three years old, respectively. There was a significantly positive relationship between Carapace Width (CW) and age, as the number of growth bands increased with putative age. The accuracy of bands counting was assessed by lower coefficient of variation values of reared and wild caught S. olivacea with 6.00 – 6.23% and 8.52 – 8.40%, respectively. Using the von Bertalanffy Growth Model equation, the growth parameters of S. olivacea was estimated and growth curves was fitted to CW at age data. The growth parameters such as asymptotic CW (CW∞), growth coefficient (K year -1 ) and initial condition parameter (t0) of the known age S. olivacea were narrower at 20.07 cm, 0.31 year -1 and - 0.20 than the wild samples at 28.01 cm, 0.36 year -1 and - 0.73 for female and at 29.34 cm, 0.38 year -1 and - 0.79 for male, respectively. The age composition suggested that S. olivacea population found in the Setiu Wetlands, Peninsular Malaysia has at least reached the age of 2 years old. The findings obtained from this study would substantially improve the direct age - based assessment for biological and ecological studies of mud crabs.Item Age, growth and reproductive biology of Indian mackerel Rastrelliger kanagurta (Cuvier, 1817) off the western waters of Aceh(Terengganu: Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, 2015-05) Muhammad ArrafiA study of Age, Growth and Reproductive Biology of Indian Mackerel Rastrelliger kanagurta (Cuvier, 1817) Off The Western Waters of Aceh, Indonesia was carried out from January to December 2013 at Ujong Baroh fishing port. A total of 1343 Indian mackerels (mainly from fishing vessel that used danish seine) were collected randomly twice a month. This study was conducted not only to determine the growth and age parameters using length frequency data, but also to investigate the biological aspects of the indian mackerel species, i.e. length-weight relationship, condition factor, sex ratio, gonad maturity stages, gonadosomatic index (GSI), length at first maturity and fecundity.Item Agihan beberapa logam berat di persisiran pantai Kemaman, Terengganu(Sekolah Siswazah, 1996-07) Ahmad Shamsuddin, AhmadKajian penentuan taburan, agihan, kepekatan dan tahap pencemaran logam berat telah dijalankan di perairan persisiran pantai Teluk Kalong, pelabuhan Kemaman dan muara Kuala Kemaman. Penentuan kepekatan logam berat yang dijalankan telah melibatkan logam terlarut, logam partikulat dan logam dalam enapan dasar. Di samping itu juga penentuan kandungan jumlah karbon, organik karbon dan saiz enapan juga telah dijalankan. Umat Islam akan asyik dengan ibadat rekaan sehingga melekakan mereka sebagai khafifah untuk mengimarahkan dunia ini. Hadith Rasulullah (SAW) telah menekankan bahawa kesan bid'ah adalah kesesatan, manifestasi kepada kesesatan adalah kemusnahan akidah. lantaran itulah, para ulama' silam seperti Imam AI-Shafi'i (150 H-204H), Imam Malik (164 H-241H), ai-ShatibT (790 H), Imam I'zzu ai-Din bin Abdul Salam (577H-660H) dan ramai lagi, telah cuba menjelaskan tentang pengertian sebenar konsep bid'ah dalam Islam sebagaimana dirakamkan dalam kitab besar mereka seperti AI-I'tisam, Qawaid a/-Ahkam dan banyak lagi. Dalam konteks kini, ulama' masakini seperti AI-Qaradawi, AI-Ghazali dan AI-Zuhaili yang turut sama menjelaskan tentang persoalan dasar yang mampu menggugat kemurnian akidah Islam.Item Al-I'Jaz Al-'Ilmi dalam Al-Quran(Terengganu: Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, 2012-03) Wan Helmy Shahriman Wan AhmadKonsep al-i 'jaz al- 'ilmi bermaksud fakta-fakta ilmiah atau saintifik yang didapati dalam al-Quran. Konsep ini telah banyak diperbincangkan oleh para ulama silam dan masa kini dan didapati hampir 750 ayat-ayat al-Qur'an yang menyentuh tentang fenomena sains yang terdapat dalamnya. Konsep ini menjadi perdebatan di kalangan ulama Islam dalam meletakkan satu panduan kepada ilmuwan Islam yang ingin mengkaji tentang perkembangan sains menurut kacamata Islam.Item Al-I‘Józ Al-‘Ilmô Dalam Al-Qur´Ón: Persepsi Golongan Agama Di Kuala Terengganu(Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, 2012-03) Wan Helmy Shahriman Bin Wan AhmadAl-Qur´Én merupakan salah satu daripada banyak mukijizat yang diberikan kepada Rasul yang terakhir nabi Muhammad (s.a.w). Kehebatannya terus berkekalan sejak lebih kurang 1430 tahun yang lalu dan dijamin kekal sehingga hari kiamat. Antara hikmah berkekalan mukjizat al-Qur´Én itu agar umat manusia pada akhir zaman ini dapat menguatkan lagi keimanan mereka terhadap agama suci ini secara amnya dan kebenaran kitab Allah (s.w.t) khasnya. Justeru, mereka menjalani kehidupan di muka bumi ini berpandukan kepada kitab suci tersebut demi mencapai kebahagiaan di dunia dan akhirat. Kehebatan al-Qur´Én boleh diklasifikasikan kepada beberapa aspek. Antaranya aspek bahasa, syariat dan ilmiah yang mustahil ditandingi oleh sesiapapun di alam ini. Allah (s.w.t) telah mencabar seluruh makhluk yang masih meragui kebenaran al-Qur´Én agar mendatangkan sebuah kitab sepertinya. Ada banyak kaedah untuk menyelesaikan masalah pengoptimuman tetapi tidak ada yang dapat menyelesaikan semua masalah pengoptimuman dengan cekapnya, sebagai contoh kaedah Newton adalah satu kaedah berketentuan yang dapat menyelesaikan masalah pengoptimuman, tetapi kaedah ini hanya dapat digunakan untuk kes-kes tertentu sahaja dan biaya pengiraan meningkat sangat cepat sesuai saiz masalah.Item Algoritma alternatif kaedah quasi-newton bagi masalah pengoptimuman tak berkekangan(Fakulti Sains dan Teknologi, 2010-05) Mohd Asrul Hery IbrahimKaedah quasi-Newton digunakan dengan meluas untuk menyelesaikan masalah pengoptimuman tak berkekangan. The first quasi-Newton algorithm was developed by Davidon in mid 1950s, and later demonstrated by Fletcher and Powell that the new algorithm was more reliable and faster than the existing methods.Item Amalan Dan Cabaran Pengurusan Biodiversiti Hutan Oleh Pihak Berkepentingan: Kajian Kes Di Tasik Kenyir(Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, 2019) Sidik, NorhidayuKebanyakan negara membangun termasuklah Malaysia, pihak kerajaan sebagai sebahagian daripada pihak berkepentingan telah memberikan komitmen yang tinggi untuk mengurus dan menangani isu biodiversiti hutan. Bagi kajian kes biodiversiti di Tasik Kenyir, matlamat utama kajian adalah untuk meneroka amalan pengurusan biodiversiti hutan oleh pihak kerajaan. Khususnya, ia bertujuan untuk menjelaskan tentang bentuk mekanisme pelaksanaan peraturan regulatif yang diamalkan di Malaysia. Kajian ini juga bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti fungsi aktor formal dan tidak formal serta untuk mengenal pasti cabaran yang dihadapi oleh aktor-aktor ini. Kajian kualitatif ini menggunakan teori analisis institusional dan pembangunan (AIP) dan data primer dikumpulkan dengan menemu bual sembilan orang informan yang terdiri daripada kakitangan kerajaan di negeri Terengganu. Di samping itu, data sekunder juga diperoleh daripada dokumen rasmi kerajaan dan laman sesawang rasmi kerajaan serta bukan kerajaan. Analisis kajian menunjukkan terdapat tiga bentuk mekanisme peraturan regulatif pengurusan biodiversiti hutan yang diamalkan di Tasik Kenyir. Amalan pengurusan tersebut merangkumi bidang kuasa domestik pada peringkat negeri dan persekutuan serta bidang kuasa antarabangsa pada peringkat antarabangsa. Kajian ini mendapati bahawa fungsi aktor formal terbahagi kepada fungsi politik dan fungsi agensi.Item Amelioration of soil acidity for Ananas comosus (L.) Merr. cultivation on bris soil, rhudua series, Terengganu(Fakulti Sains dan Teknologi, 2006-11) Masita MohammadA study on the amelioration of soil acidity for Ananas comosus (L.) Merr. cultivated on bris soil was conducted in pot at Plant Shade House, Department of Biological Science, KUSTEM and also in the field at Kg. Telaga Papan, Setiu, Terengganu using Rhudua series soil. These experiments were arranged in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with six treatments and four replications.
