Golden arowana (Scleropages formosus) is an ancient, endangered and one of the most expensive
ornamental fish in the world. One of the major problems in arowana farming industry is the gender of
golden arowana is difficult to distinguish due to absence of phenotypic sign and sexual dimorphism in
both male and female individuals.

tropical fish in the world. Sex identification is still a major issue in the arowana farming industry
because they lack phenotypic sign of sexual dimorphism throughout their life span which hinders sex
selection during culture.
