The LC 50 96-hr of sepat siam to malathion was 0.98 ppm while that of Tilapia was 0.29 ppm. Tilapia was approximately three times more sensitive to malathion than sepat siam.Item Behavior and distribution study of the two Mollusks,(Nerita spp. and Nassarius spp.) on a sheltered rocky shore at Pulau Kapas(Fakulti Pengajian Maritim dan Sains Marin, 1983-02) Abdul Razak LatunThe distribution and behavior of Nassarius spp. and Nerita spp. on the rocky shore at Pulau Kapas were studied. Nine stations were selected at random for the purpose of the study. The distribution of these gastropods (Nerita spp. and Nassarius spp.) is governed by their feeding habits. The second stage is hypnosis whereby the fish rolls onto one side. Generally, when higher voltage is applied,the fish directly exhibits hypnotic reaction. Subri Haji SaadonA quantitative survey was made on the communities on exposed and protected rocky shores of Pulau Kapas, Trengganu. The protected shores are gentle sloping while the exposed shores which experience direct Wave action, slopes steeply into the sea. People have learned about local netting twines by experience but definite conclusions based on exact and concrete data are not always available.Item Satu pengujian dan perbandingan ke atas empat daripada kaedah pelbagai tangkapan semula di dalam menganggar saiz populasi ikan(Fakulti Pengajian Maritim dan Sains Marin, 1983-08) Rosidi AliTujuan penyelidikan ini ialah untuk membuat pengujian ketepatan saiz populasi anggaran ke atas kaedah Schnabel, kaedah Schumacher-Eshmeyer, kaedah Bailey dan kaedah Seber-Jolly dengan membandingkan kepada saiz populasi ketika kolam dikeringkan dan semua ikan di dalamnya dibilang. Sebanyak lima kali percontohan telah dilakukan. Dua jenis tanda telah dikenakan untuk setiap ikan yang ditanda iaitu keratan sirip dan "fingerling tag".Item Effects of progesterone on ovarian maturation in the penaeid prawn,Penaeus merguiensis De Man(Fakulti Pengajian Maritim dan Sains Marin, 1983-08) Lim Song HokEffects of progesterone on ovarian maturation in Penaeus merouiensis were studied. Individual prawns were injected with 0 ug,100 ug and 200 ug of progesterone. Twenty of them were exposed to low concentrations of mercury for three weeks in each tank containing 0 ppb (control), 0.36 ppb, 0.84 ppb,and 2.43 ppb Hg (as HgCl^) respectively. Two volumes of Tapis A crude oil (0.1 ml/litre and 1.0 ml/litre) were used in the preparation of Erd-Schreiber culture media containing oil to which the E. flexuosa germlings were introduced as a temporary treatment.Item Tinjauan terhadap molluska di sekitar Muara Sungai Ibai dan kepentingan ekonomi spesis(Fakulti Pengajian Maritim dan Sains Marin, 1983-08) Munir Mohd NawiKajian dijalankan terhadap hidupan molluska di sekitar muara Sungai Ibai dibahagian air pasangsurut. Kawasan kajian meliputi empat bahagian : berpasir , berlumpur, pasir berlurnpur dan pasir berlumpur dengan rumputlaut. Kawasan yang terdiri dari pasir berlumpur dengan rumputlaut menunjukkan indeks kepelbagaian spesis yang tertinggi. "Cerithium patulum" boleh didapati dengan banyaknya di keempat-empat kawasan .Kerang ( Anadara granosa ) didapati di kawasan yang pasir berlumpur.Taburan bagi kebanyakan spesis di kawasan ini ditentukan leh jenis dasar.Item Physical properties of local netting twine (Dry state)(Fakulti Pengajian Maritim dan Sains Marin, 1983-08) Muhamad Hatta MahmudMany new materials have recently been introduced into our commercial fishing gear but very little has been published to date on the properties of these materials. Aquarium tanks of 70 liters capacity were used in holding the fishes with 20 fishes in each tank.
