    ROSELLE (HIBISCUS SABDARIFFA) ANTHOCYANIN USE IN MONITORING MEAT FRESHNESS

    This study designed a new type indicator with hydrophobic Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) film as a moisture prevent-layer. And the sensor layer was provided based on polyvinyl alcohol/Sodium alginate (PS) and Roselle anthocyanins (RAs). Physical properties, microstructure, and color stability of the bi-layer indicator have been investigated. The Water contact angle (WCA) of PS/RAs/ PVDF film (PSRF) was 108.85◦, which can be considered as an excellent hydrophobic surface. The lowest Water Vapor Permeability (WVP) value of PSRF exhibited a good barrier property for moisture. Therefore, PSRF film was used to monitor the griskin freshness. The Total volatile basic nitrogen (TVB-N) level was increased to 18.02 mg/100 g at 72 h, and the color of the indicator presented visible color changes. The acquired results revealed a good correlation between TVB-N, pH and color change of the indicator. The research indicated that PSRF indicator has increasing potential application on food intelligent packaging.

    NAVIGATIONAL RISK OF CONTAINER FALLS IN THE STRAIT OF MALACCA

    Abstract: The operation of any vessel includes risks, such as mechanical failure, collision, property loss, cargo loss, or damage. For modern container ships, safe navigation is challenging as the rate of innovation regarding design, speed profiles and carrying capacity has experienced exponential growth over the past few years. Prevention of cargo loss in container ship liners is of high importance for the Maritime industry and the waterborne sector as it can lead to potentially disastrous, harmful, or even life-threatening outcomes for the crew, the shipping company, the marine environment, and aqua-culture. With the installment of onboard decision support system(s) (DSS) that will provide the required operational guidance to the vessel’s master, we aim to prevent and overcome such events. This paper explores cargo losses in container ships by employing a novel weather routing optimization DS framework that aims to identify excessive motions and accelerations caused by bad weather at specifi times and locations; it also suggests alternative routes and, thus, ultimately prevents cargo loss and damage.

    MULTIMODAL FAKE NEWS DETECTION

    In recent years, social media has increasingly become one of the popular ways for people to consume news. As proliferation of fake news on social media has the negative impacts on individuals and society, automatic fake news detection has been explored by different research communities for combating fake news. With the development of multimedia technology, there is a phenomenon that cannot be ignored is that more and more social media news contains information with different modalities, e.g., texts, pictures and videos. The multiple information modalities show more evidence of the happening of news events and present new opportunities to detect features in fake news. First, for multimodal fake news detection task, it is a challenge of keeping the unique properties for each modality while fusing the relevant information between different modalities. Second, for some news, the information fusion between different modalities may produce the noise information which affects model’s performance. Unfortunately, existing methods fail to handle these challenges. To address these problems, we propose a multimodal fake news detection framework based on Crossmodal Attention Residual and Multichannel convolutional neural Networks (CARMN). The Crossmodal Attention Residual Network (CARN) can selectively extract the relevant information related to a target modality from another source modality while maintaining the unique information of the target modality. The Multichannel Convolutional neural Network (MCN) can mitigate the influence of noise information which may be generated by crossmodal fusion component by extracting textual feature representation from original and fused textual information simultaneously. We conduct extensive experiments on four real-world datasets and demonstrate that the proposed model outperforms the state-of-the-art methods and learns more discriminable feature representations.

Published papers are crucial for helping you to become an expert in your chosen field, commu nicate to the world your important contributions to the advancement of knowledge, get the necessary feedback to improve your research plans and establish your career. Therefore we cannot emphasize enough the import ance of learning to write your articles effectively. Remarkably few colleges, universities, companies and other organizations worldwide take the trouble to instruct their students, research staff and others in paper writing. They seem to expect people to assimilate the requisite skills from their mentors (who themselves often need training). This manual will instruct you how to go about writing a research paper. To keep it within reasonable bounds, it does not include much information on how to write in good idiomatic English (see A.10). There is a wealth of books on this matter, and a quick search online will lead you to many. This is true not only regarding non native English speakers, as many native speakers often need help, particu larly important in developing a personal style, so necessary if papers are to be less stereotyped in the presentation.

    MANGROVE RESTORATION TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE COASTAL ECOSYSTEM MANAGEMENT

    Mangroves are an important ecosystem that provides valuable social, economic, and environmental services. Indonesia has placed mangroves on its national priority agenda in an important effort to sustainably manage this ecosystem and achieve national climate commitments. However, mangrove management is faced with complex challenges encompassing social, ecological, and economic issues. In order to achieve the government’s commitments and targets regarding mangrove restoration and conservation, an in-depth study on and critical review of mangrove management in Indonesia was conducted herein. This work aimed to provide a comprehensive analysis of the challenges and strategic recommendations for sustainable mangrove management in Indonesia. SWOT analysis was carried out to understand the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats related to mangrove management in Indonesia. To address these gaps, we reviewed the existing policies, current rehabilitation practices, environmental challenges, and research and technology implementations in the field We found that strategies on mangrove ecosystem protection, such as improving the function and value of mangrove forests, integrating mangrove ecosystem management, strengthening political commitments and law enforcement, involving all stakeholders (especially coastal communities), and advancing research and innovations, are crucial for sustainable mangrove management and to support the national blue carbon agenda.

    GLOBAL WARMING EFFECTS ON ECTOTHERM SPECIES

    In light of ongoing climate change, it is increasingly important to know how nutritional requirements of ectotherms are affected by changing temperatures. Here, we analyse the wide thermal response of phosphorus (P) requirements via elemental gross growth efficiencies of Carbon (C) and P, and the Threshold Elemental Ratios in different aquatic invertebrate ectotherms: the freshwater model species Daphnia magna, the marine copepod Acartia tonsa, the marine heterotrophic dinoflagellate Oxyrrhis marina, and larvae of two populations of the marine crab Carcinus maenas. We show that they all share a non-linear cubic thermal response of nutrient requirements. Phosphorus requirements decrease from low to intermediate temperatures, increase at higher temperatures and decrease again when temperature is excessive. This common thermal response of nutrient requirements is of great importance if we aim to understand or even predict how ectotherm communities will react to global warming and nutrientdriven eutrophication.
