    A study was done to characterize the NiV L gene, and to develop and analyse the transcription process of NiV. In this study, NiV L protein was cloned and the entire gene was sequenced. The L gene, which consists of 6,735 nucleotides, encoded a protein of 2,244 amino acids with a calculated molecular weight of 257,202 Da. Expression of the L gene in yeast, Pichia pastoris showed the predicted molecular weight of 257 kDa protein.
