Item Current circulation and physical characteristics along Pahang coasts(Terengganu: Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, 2010) Nur Hidayah RoseliThis study was done in order to analyze and determine the current circulation pattern and physical characteristics of Pahang water from data collected on October 2003 and April 2004. The data was analyzed by using MATLAB software. From the result, the current direction on the subsurface layer showed that the current moved southward on October 2003 and moved northward on April 2004. Current speed for both years showed the same range, 0.1 mis to 0.4 mis. The temperature values on October 2003 were lower, ranged from 28.95 °C to 29.72 °C compared to the temperature values on April 2004 that ranged from 28.47 °C to 30.5 °C. The salinity values on October 2003 was lower, ranging from 30.45 ppt to 33.86 ppt compared to the salinity values on April 2004, 32.08 ppt to 35.06 ppt. The DO profiles below showed that the DO values on October 2003 were higher, ranging from 5.42mg/l to 6.48mg/l compared to the DO values on April 2004, ranging from 5.5 lmg/l to 6.2mg/l. According to the analysis, the current circulation and physical characteristics along Pahang water on October 2003 was influenced by early Northeast monsoon. On April 2004, the current circulation and physical characteristics was influenced by early Southwest monsoon.Item Water characteristics and current circulations off east coast Peninsular Malaysia(Terengganu: Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, 2014-05) Nur Hidayah RoseliA descriptive analysis on water characteristics and current circulation at the east coast Peninsular Malaysia was done by using different available sources of data. The main dataset was the in-situ data collection obtained from three different cruises taken in September 2011 (Cruise 1), June 2012 (Cruise 2) and October 2012 (Cruise 3). In –situ CTD parameters of temperature, salinity, density and dissolved oxygen were selected to explain the water characteristics while in-situ ADCP data was used to measure currents at the study area. Because of some limitations in this in-situ data to explain the seasonal variations, satellite tracked drifter data of SVP and assimilated model outputs of BRAN were added to this study.
