    Islamic Way of Spending and Ownership in the View of Sayyid Qutb

    This paper will discuss the importance of wealth as proposed by Sayyid in his masterpiece work, Fi Zilal al-Quran. The discussion will therefore revolve around the wealth conception, way of spending and ownership concept. Qutb’s Islamic treatment of the subject of human economic affairs derives from the belief that Islam is a comprehensive system covering all aspects of human society. Using content analysis approach based on Qutb’s work, Fi Zilal al-Quran, the study found that Qutb’s idea in many ways, was influenced by Maududi’s thought on the subject. Qutb’s ideas tended to propagate the belief that whatever an individual Muslim possesses is not, in fact, his alone. Instead, all that he has is by way of trust, a ‘trust’ vouchsafed by God and all that is spent must be in accordance with His command and within the limits prescribed by Him..

    Issues and Juristic Opinions on the Investment of Waqf Funds

    Wakaf is linked to a variety of fields, such as religious, educational, cultural, social and economic. There are several problems and issues facing the Malaysian endowment management as a whole, and Kelantan in particular. Some of the problems and issues are lack of academically and administratively qualified personnel in the Wakaf sectionsldepartments, lack of standard system for preserving wakaf assets, lack of standard system procedure for the transfer of wakaf items to the Endowment Committee, and so on. There are several contemporary problems and issues surrounding Wakaf management and organization. and the most prevalent of which is the issue of investing Wakaf funds. This is so because it is of great interest to the Malaysian lslam1c institutions or the Malaysian Islamic council. Based on the importance of the subject, we have seen the need to examine wakaf applications to Kelantan endowment committee. This study is comprised of four sections, namely: the emergence of the Kelantan Endowment Committee and its objectives; the rule of investing endowment funds from the lslam1c jurists' perspective; contemporary decisions on the issue of investing Wakaf funds; and mvestment of Wakaf funds in the Kelantan endowment committee. The most important finding of the study is that the Kelantan Endowment Commission relates to several fields, as stated by the researchers. It IS hoped that the study and its findings will benefit the researchers, the needy ones, as well as the authorities of Wakaf institutions and committees.

    Mushaf Imlai dan Implikasinya dalam Pembacaan al-Quran.

    Mushaf Imla’i adalah salah satu versi Al-Quran yang ditulis berdasarkan tulisan Arab standard. Ia juga dikenali sebagai Rasm Imla’i atau Rasm Qiyasi. Struktur rasm Al-Quran (ortografi) dan dabt (tanda-tanda yang menentukan sebutan yang betul Al-Quran) dalam Mushaf Imla’i adalah berbeza dari Mushaf Uthmani disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor seperti penambahan huruf (ziyadah), pertukaran huruf (badl) dan sebagainya. Perbezaan beberapa aspek tersebut telah membawa kepada berlakunya kekeliruan dan kesilapan dalam membaca Al-Quran. Oleh itu, kertas ini akan membincangkan beberapa implikasi yang timbul akibat dari menggunakan Mushaf Imla’ī dalam bacaan Al-Quran serta beberapa kesan terhadap masyarakat Islam keseluruhannya. Menggunakan kaedah analisis kandungan, kajian ini mendapati Mushaf Imla’i tidak sesuai digunakan secara terbuka kerana boleh menyebabkan wujud beberapa kekeliruan dari segi pembacaan Al-Quran.
