dc.description.abstractMalaysia is well-known as a maritime nation in the world. The length of the Malaysian coastline is 4490 km. Malaysia is also a major oil producer in the region. Transactions on marine oil in Malaysia water increased each year. Therefore, the business providing oil transportation gives highly profitable. Some companies only operating vessels transporting oil to either have only run the ship itself or other property rights. To meet the manpower requirements on board and address several issues related to crew problems, many companies have employ crew from countries outside that low labour rate and skills. So, mix crews will bring positive and negative effects to the company in particular. This study was conducted to find out how companies determine or make decisions in selecting the crew to work on their ships. In this study established several criteria that may be used in making the decision. Results from this study can be used to further improve the shipping industry in Malaysia, especially in the case of employing foreigners and help Malaysian seafarers.en_US
