dc.description.abstract | Number of local seafarers working onboard is less than foreign seafarers in most of the shipping company. Most of the Malaysian seafarers stop from sailing in early age. Once they achieved a certain levels of Certificate of Competency (CoC), they tend to quit from sailing and start work on land with different maritime sectors. One of the sectors they choose to work on land is port pilot. Minimum requirement to be port pilot in most of the ports in Malaysia is Certificate of Competency (CoC) with grade of Officer in Charge of Navigational Watch of 500GT or more Unlimited Trade Voyage (WK.0- Unlimited). The purpose of this paper is to determine the factors, which leads to port pilot to quit from sailing. There are consists of 7 factors leads to port pilot quit from sailing which are family influences, health problem, ambition, stress, safety, fatigue and others. | en_US |
