Abstract: In recent years, the issue of oil waste disposal and oil spills occurs more frequently reported in the Strait of Malacca. Therefore, it had adverse effects on the environment and marine life. Oil spills and oil waste dumping into the sea not only pollute the sea and the beach, but it can kill marine life and sea birds. Apart from that, it can disrupt the livelihoods of fishermen who depend on fishing in the sea. This research only focuses on the issues of waste oil disposal because this issue can be avoided if we are aware of the spread of the factors that led to the oil waste disposal by merchant ships that through the Straits of Malacca. The main objective of this study was to identify factors illegal oil waste disposal by merchant ships in the Straits of Malacca. The method used in this study is to use Microsoft Excel to identify the highest number that causes major cases of illegal waste oil goes along the Straits of Malacca. This study actually helps any plan to ensure the safety of the Straits of Malacca from marine pollution can affect marine life along the Straits of Malacca .. Lack of data from the maritime enforcement agencies makes it difficult to carry out a detailed study and comprehensive. Factors waste oil disposal comes from questionnaire survey. For future study, the acquisition of detailed data is necessary to obtain more specific factors and various, because it can help any security plan of the marine environment along the Straits of Malacca.
