Abstract: This study assesses the evolution of maritime tourism of Terengganu, determine the most important/ popular destinations for tourist in Terengganu and investigates the prospect of Terengganu as maritime tourism centre. The methodology of research is using structure interview and based on data collected from various related agencies, chalet operators. Among the main attractions of tourists to Terengganu include the visit to resort islands, marine parks, ecotourism (fishing, squid jigging), Islamic Civilisation Park or Taman Tamadun Islam, Kenyir Lake. Monsoon Cup had attracted international tourist of foreign nationals in addition to participants and officials involved with the event and it is seasonal. From the data recorded by Terengganu State Government the highest number of local and foreign tourist come to Terengganu was about 3 million in 2009. It shows that Terengganu is a choice for tourism destination especially in the maritime tourism. The Department of Marine Park Malaysia/Terengganu recorded about 110 840 tourists in 2010 (Redang Island) and about 81 596 tourists in 2010 (Perhentian Island). The recommendations are proposed in this thesis to attract more tourists coming to Terengganu.
