Abstract: Advanced safety system that introduced in this project paper is Vehicle Collision Avoidance System (VCAS). This system help driver sense the danger, issues early warning, controlling vehicle when avoiding collision and reduce the vehicle crash impact. Parameters that involved in VCAS are vehicle speed and front car object relative distance. Both parameters then used by three modules in VCAS that is Vehicle Speed Converter, Calculate Time to Impact and System Control. Modelsim XE II 5.7 g software used in design and simulates VCAS due to capability of software supporting design that used VHDL programming language. Results from all three modules that finished simulate are then compared to actual results acquired from formula calculation method. Those compared result modules are according to desired initial design although several adjustments need to be made. Successful of this system can motivate more advanced safety system to be developing at Malaysia.
