Abstract: The Asian green mussel , Perna viridis, often faces multiple stressors such as environmental temperature changes and bacterial infection, which threaten the survival of this species. Mild heat stress promotes thermotolerance and cross-protection against pathogens in several aquatic animals, probably rendered by the accumulation of heat hock protein 70 (Hsp70), among other molecular chaperones.
