| Abstract: | Scavenger Receptor Class B type 1 (SR-BI), the main receptor for high-density lipoprotein (HDL), is the key in preventing atherosclerosis. It removes cholesterols from HDL, returning the lipid-poor lipoprotein to the circulation. The role of compounds extracted from marine sponges and their efficacy on hypercholesterolemia is not new. |
