dc.description.abstract | The performance of the quay crane plays a great role in the productivity and efficiency of the container terminal. The performance of the quay crane influences the vessel turnaround time and the container throughput of the port. In addition, crane operator is an important element for the performance of the quay crane. Breakdown of the crane is inevitable but the seriousness of the issue can be mitigated or reduced. This study enhances a better understanding on how the performance of the container quay crane in affecting the port operation. The identification of the elements or events that contributed to the crane breakdown may provide a general insight to the future crane maintenance management. Moreover, this research provides recommended preventions for the undesirable future incident. This paper discusses the two different ways of quay crane managements of Northport and Westport both in working or breakdown situation. This paper presents the result of study on the performance and management of quay cranes from Northport and Westport. | en_US |
