Abstract: There are few studies about Cu/ex sp. in East Coast of Malaysia. Research and monitoring of the Cu/ex mosquito breeding areas is very important to control and prevent mosquito-borne diseases from spreading widely. Hence, study about the distribution of Cu/ex sp. in Kuala Terengganu was conducted from August 2009 until February 2010. Using the dipper method, a study was conducted in six locations around Kuala Terengganu and divided into the rural (i.e: Kg. Kubang Jela, Kg. Durian Burong and Kg. Chabang Tiga) and urban (i.e: Taman Syahbandar, MPKT bus station and Batu Burok) areas. The distribution classes were provided by Dzieczkowski, 1972. From the study, only Cu/ex quinquefasciatus is successfully collected, which were 54 individuals in urban areas and 71 individuals in rural areas, respectively. Of the six study sites, only two locations, namely Taman Syahbandar and Kampung Kubang Jela recorded positive results of Cx. quinquefasciatus breeding sites. MPKT bus station, Batu Burok, Kampung Durian Burong and Kampung Chabang Tiga recorded negative results. Distribution of the classes were as follows, Taman Syahbandar, C3 (43.2%, moderate), MPKT bus station was Cl (0%, sporadic), Batu Burok, Cl, Kampung Durian Burong, Cl, Kampung Kubang Jela, C3 (56.8%, moderate) and Kampung Chabang Tiga, Cl. The distribution of Cu/ex breeding sites in Kuala Terengganu is either sporadic or moderate and perhaps have a low risk of diseases outbreak involving Cu/ex sp. as vectors.
