Authors: Penerbit Universiti Malaysia Terengganu
Abstract: This volume contains the Proceeding of the UMT 8th Annual Symposium on Sustainability Science
and Management, which was held in Kuala Terengganu from May 3ra to 41h in 2009. About 200
participants from local and international countries attended the symposium and 150 papers were
presented, 110 of them as oral presentations and others as posters. Oral and poster sessions were
entertained in order that every person could listen to any presentation to discuss and exchange
opinions. This generated a stimulating atmosphere by exchanging knowledge and experience.
This symposium also provides a platform for scholars and researchers to develop and pioneer new
perspectives in their fields. Original papers presented are categorized into six sections namely;
Coastal Zone Management, Maritime Management, Oceanography, Environment Management,
Aquaculture and Marine Biotechnology and Food Sciences and Post Harvest Technology.
The editorial committee would like to extend its gratitude to all reviewers for ensuring the quality
of articles published. We would also like to thank the authors and participants whose knowledge
and contribution throughout the symposium offered new insights for better understanding on the
symposium theme, 'Managing Human, Environment and natural Resources for Sustainability'.
